Position: Special Education Coordinator
Compensation: $55 to $60 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 to 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Work Location: Twin Cities, Minneapolis–Saint Paul MN
Focused Staffing Group is searching for an experienced Special Education Coordinator to join our team. The program coordinator will be responsible for monitoring and coordinating all aspects of the special education programs and services. You will work closely with the building administrative team and the director of special education to ensure effective special education programming by providing leadership in special education, due process monitoring and compliance, and management of department administrative tasks.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Program planning and implementation
1. Ensures compliance of State and Federal rules and regulations
2. Assists in the development and implementation of program goals and procedures
3. Provides leadership in the selection and implementation of evidence-based curriculum and instruction for students with disabilities
4. Monitors special education staffing procedures to ensure that IEPs are completed on time and that procedural deadlines are met at all times
5. Coordinates and conducts initial assessments of special education to determine eligibility
6. Maintains student information database; monitors file management of special education processes including files transfer between buildings, proper storage and organization to secured central location
7. Mentors new special education teachers about due process
8. Organize and facilitate department meetings
9. Supports the MTSS team with referrals, interventions and the prereferral process
11. Coordinates Special Education Extended School Year projections and completion of forms.
12. Other duties as assigned

1. Ability to effectively communicate, both in verbal and written form, with students, staff, parents, and community members
2. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with a wide variety of groups and individuals
3. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
4. Problem solving and conflict resolution skills
5. Ability to make decisions and act within the district and program policies, procedures and guidelines
Qualifications and Requirements
Education/Certification/Licensure
1. Masters Degree in Special Education or related area
2. At least five years successful special education teaching experience
3. Preferred Director of Special Education licensure
