About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President of Government Affairs to join their senior management team. The successful candidate will be the primary lobbyist and political operative, responsible for implementing all public policy, political, electoral, and advocacy goals. This role involves close collaboration with the Executive Staff, government affairs committees, and various staff members to ensure the association's priorities are met. The VP will also supervise all governmental affairs staff and be involved in statehouse lobbying, maintaining relationships with legislative leaders, and managing the association's legislative proposals. Additionally, the VP will serve as a staff liaison for the REALTORS® Political Action Committee, manage its financial affairs, and ensure compliance with all legal requirements. Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years' experience in a major advocacy organization, lobbying firm, governmental agency, or legislative office in Illinois, with a proven track record in legislative advocacy. The role requires extensive experience in staff management, budget oversight, and a deep understanding of the legal requirements associated with lobbying. The ideal candidate will be an effective and persuasive communicator, capable of analyzing and addressing legislative and political situations, and will have pre-existing relationships with members of the Illinois State Legislature. The VP will also be responsible for supervising and directing staff in various governmental affairs programs, including local advocacy and political programs, and must be adept at collaborating with colleagues and maintaining effective working relationships.
