Job Description

As a Senior Scientist in Cell Line Development, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and optimizing cell lines for the production of biopharmaceuticals. You will be responsible for implementing cutting-edge technologies to enhance the efficiency, stability, and productivity of our cell lines.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute cell line development strategies for the production of recombinant proteins, antibodies, and other biologics
• Implement and optimize transfection methods, selection processes, and cloning techniques
• Conduct genetic engineering using CRISPR/Cas9, ZFNs, or other genome editing tools
• Develop and apply high-throughput screening methods for clone selection
• Establish stable, high-expressing cell lines and evaluate their performance
• Characterize cell lines for productivity, stability, and product quality
• Collaborate with upstream and downstream process development teams
• Document experimental procedures, analyze data, and present findings
• Stay current with emerging technologies and scientific literature in the field
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to a collaborative research environment

Required Qualifications

• PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field
• Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in mammalian cell line development
• Extensive experience with CHO, HEK293, or other mammalian expression systems
• Proficiency in molecular cloning, vector design, and genetic engineering
• Experience with cell line genetic characterization (qPCR, ddPCR, NGS)
• Strong knowledge of single-cell cloning techniques (FACS, limiting dilution, ClonePix)
• Experience with cell culture in various formats (shake flasks, bioreactors)
• Demonstrated track record of developing high-expressing, stable cell lines
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
• Strong documentation and communication abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with DOE (Design of Experiments) for process optimization
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements for cell line development
• Knowledge of automation platforms for high-throughput screening
• Experience with serum-free and chemically defined media development
• Familiarity with bioinformatics tools for sequence analysis and design
• Experience with process scale-up and tech transfer to manufacturing
