Second Shift / Swing Shift Supervisor (Salaried)

Sterling Beverage is a rapidly growing beverage manufacturing company based in Buffalo, NY. We produce a variety of high-quality canned beverages in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment .

As we continue to expand, we are seeking a Second Shift / Swing Shift Supervisor to lead and manage our second shift production team. This is a salaried, independent leadership role — the Supervisor will be the primary leadership presence on second shift and must be comfortable working autonomously , making decisions, and driving results without direct oversight from day shift managers or ownership during their shift.

Shift Hours:
This position is responsible for running the second shift , which operates from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM . The Second Shift Supervisor will be the primary leadership presence on-site during this shift and will be expected to work slightly outside of these core hours as needed to ensure a smooth transition between first and second shifts and to oversee proper shift start-up and close-out.

This role operates independently of day shift managers and ownership — the ideal candidate must be comfortable working autonomously and making sound leadership decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily shift transition from first to second shift

• Supervise second shift production operations and staff

• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot production line machinery (fillers, seamers, conveyors, packaging equipment)

• Enforce food safety and quality standards (HACCP, GMPs, SQF preferred)

• Perform mechanical adjustments and minor equipment repairs as needed

• Meet daily production goals and maintain efficiency

• Maintain accurate records of production, downtime, and quality checks

• Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement

• Communicate effectively with first shift leadership and plant management

• Train, coach, and develop second shift team members

Qualifications:

• Supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing environment (beverage/food strongly preferred)

• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on machine operating experience

• Solid knowledge of food safety and quality standards (HACCP, GMPs, SQF)

• Excellent organizational and leadership skills

• Proven ability to motivate and manage a diverse team

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment without direct day-to-day supervision from owners or first shift managers

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work a core shift of 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM , with flexibility to extend outside these hours as needed for shift transition and supervisory duties

• Ability to perform physical tasks and stand for extended periods during shift
