Job Title: Pharmacy Fill Technician

Pay: $21-$23 an hr | Bi-weekly

Job Type: Onsite in Des Plaines IL 60018

Shift Options:

  • Overnights (10p-6a or 11p-7a):
  • Evening: (3pm-11:30pm, 2pm-10:30pm):
  • Mid-shift: (11a-7:30p or 12p-8:30p):

Pharmacy Fill Technician Overview:

  • The Pharmacy Fill Technician accurately prepares prescriptions, including the careful picking, labeling, scanning, and final preparation of prescriptions for the pharmacist's verification. Additionally, they assist in maintaining a well-organized workspace and ensure compliance with regulations.

    Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Pull/pick medications from shelving and other medication storage areas (pre-pack racks)
  • Accuracy check of final preparation before presenting to the pharmacist
  • Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently and in a timely and prioritized manner, under the supervision of a pharmacist
  • Assist in processing returned drugs and recycle/dispose per procedure
  • Assist in pre-packing frequently ordered medications; label and stock as needed during low-volume times
  • Package materials and products manually
  • Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA
  • Maintain clean/organized workstation areas and replenish all stock supplies needed each shift
  • Alert the pharmacist on duty of any medication/product that is not scanning properly
  • Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code
  • Overtime, holidays, and weekends may be required and/or expected
  • Other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary depending on business needs

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of brand name/generic medications
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Able to work at a moderate speed.
  • Able to work during inclement weather.
  • Reliable
  • Detail-focused with analytical problem-solving skills
  • Able to physically perform light lifting.
  • Must be able to work various shifts and day

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Pharmacy technician licenses/certifications required by state regulations and state of practice.
  • Previous pharmacy experience preferred (one or more years of long-term care experience preferred)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend, walk
  • May be necessary to work extended hours as needed

Please note, because we are a pharmacy most of our locations are open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week and therefore schedules may change as determined by the needs of the business.

Pharmacy Fill Technician Benefits:

  • Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment and include health, optical, dental, life, and short-term disability insurance.
  • A 401(k) with a company match is available for full-time employees with 1 year of service on our eligibility dates.
