Role Summary

Own field execution across multiple concurrent jobs—planning, staging, leading crews, coordinating trades, and delivering clean, documented installations on schedule and within budget. Scopes include structured cabling (Cat6/6A, fiber), racks/network gear, CCTV & access control, audio/video systems, and motorized shades/lighting. You will review drawings/RFPs, lead jobsite activities, and close out with complete deliverables.

What You’ll Do

PLAN & COORDINATE

  • Review RFPs, drawings, specs, and SOWs; define goals, timelines, labor/equipment/materials, and procedures.
  • Perform site surveys; identify milestones/deliverables; build look-ahead schedules and task lists.
  • Coordinate materials and timing with the Warehouse Manager; stage gear and pre-build racks.
  • Attend construction meetings; coordinate with customers, GCs, electricians, and other trades; escalate blockers early.

LEAD FIELD EXECUTION

  • Lead 2–6 technicians/subcontractors on cable pulls, terminations (copper & fiber), labeling, dressing, rack buildouts, device mounting, and trim-out.
  • Install and align AV systems (speakers, displays, projectors, mics, cameras); coordinate with programmers for commissioning.
  • Install and commission motorized shades/lighting; coordinate power, control, and handoffs with electricians.
  • Mount/turn-up switches, APs, gateways, UPS; perform basic IP setup (DHCP/static, PoE, VLAN concepts, Wi‑Fi placement).
  • Enforce safety and quality (TIA/NEC best practices); protect schedule and budget; maintain a clean, professional jobsite.

DOCUMENTATION & CLOSE-OUT

• Maintain redlines/as-builts; compile deliverable packets (test results, certs, photos, asset lists).

• Manage shop drawings review/approvals; keep project files and correspondence organized.

• Capture Fluke certs and, where applicable, OTDR results; manage punch-lists to completion.

• Track and reconcile technician time sheets for assigned projects.

DESIGN/PRE-CON SUPPORT (as needed)

  • Translate requirements into practical designs; familiarity with CAD/Shop Drawings; exposure to BIM/Revit, SketchUp, and PDF mark-up tools is a plus.
  • Support material takeoffs, device schedules, and pre-build/staging standards.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

  • Construction experience (active jobsite coordination, reading plans/elevations/RCPs/one-lines, redline discipline)
  • General automation (e.g., control/lighting/shades fundamentals and commissioning workflows)
  • General audio/video (mounting/aiming, signal flow, gain structure fundamentals)
  • General networking (L1/L2 basics, PoE, DHCP/static IPs, VLAN concepts, Wi‑Fi placement)
  • General access control/CCTV (low-voltage power, door hardware basics, controller/reader/camera install)
  • Multi-project leadership: scheduling, crew direction, vendor coordination, and quality control

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of low-voltage/AV/security/network installations, including 2+ years leading field crews.
  • Pro at Cat6/6A terminations, fiber handling (fusion splice/OTDR preferred), coax; labeling and certification discipline.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, Outlook; PDF markup; basic CAD familiarity.
  • Strong customer communication, issue escalation, and documentation habits.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Certifications, Screens & Clearances
  • Required (or obtained within 90 days): OSHA‑10 (OSHA‑30 preferred)
  • Preferred: AVIXA CTS and/or BICSI Installer/Technician (Support305 will sponsor where appropriate)
  • Required: Background check, drug screen, and client/site badging as applicable

Work Conditions

  • Field-based with frequent travel between job sites; some nights/weekends for cutovers.
  • Able to lift 50–75 lbs, work at heights/lifts/ladders, and distinguish EIA/TIA color codes.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
