Job Description

The Driver is responsible for coordinating and safely transporting clients to and from facility programming including appointments, activity trips, airport shuttle service and other special events in a punctual and timely manner. Also provides monitoring and reporting of client behaviors, crisis situations, and medical emergencies as needed as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. Transports visitors or staff as needed. Roles and Responsibilities include driving company vehicles to transport clients for admissions, appointments, activity trips, discharges, and other special events in a punctual and timely manner; picking up or transporting visitors or staff as needed; assuring that all passengers are wearing seatbelts before the vehicle is started; maintaining constant awareness and supervision of clients while transporting them; complying with all company safety policies and practices and alleviating any safety issues by resolving or notifying appropriate persons for assistance; serving as a positive role model for clients and peers; charting in client records as appropriate; providing verbal reports to the oncoming shift; responding and adhering to “on call” schedule as required; completing all transportation documentation accurately; maintaining vehicle logs and reporting maintenance issues; ensuring company vehicles are clean and functional; responding to units to assist in behavioral events when needed; driving company facility vehicle to pick-up supplies or equipment as needed. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, one or more years relevant work experience in behavioral facility preferred, valid and in good standing state driver's license, CPR and de-escalation certification may be required (training available upon hire), and first aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
