Job Description

Our Financial Services client is looking for a Director of Risk Management with experience in Property Management risk, Real Estate, and general 3rd party risk to oversee and expand on their internal risk practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive and competitive insurance programs for the company's real estate portfolios and corporate operations, including negotiating policy terms and conditions.
  • Allocate premiums and prepare insurance budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
  • Manage and report all liability and property-related claims with insurance carriers and external legal counsel; participate in claim review meetings and analyze claim reserves.
  • Provide various departments with consultation and technical guidance on insurance and risk management matters.
  • Conduct asset acquisition due diligence by identifying and assessing significant risk management and insurance issues, compiling underwriting data, and making appropriate recommendations.
  • Negotiate and maintain strong relationships with insurers, brokers, claims counsel, and other service providers essential to the risk management program.
  • Review contracts to evaluate risk-related provisions, ensuring competitiveness and compliance with insurance and risk management policies.
  • Supervise and train the risk management administrator.
  • Oversee the collection and review of insurance certificates from third parties to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Develop and implement risk management policies, training, and communication strategies to ensure compliance with legal and corporate governance requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • ARM, CPCU, CRIS, RIMS-CRMP, or Risk Fellow certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 4+ years in a corporate risk management role within the real estate industry.
  • Experience with Property, Builders Risk, Casualty (including construction-related liability), Environmental, Directors and Officers Liability, EPL, E&O, Cyber, Fiduciary, and Fidelity coverages.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess complex problems with multiple viewpoints and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, demonstrate leadership, drive results, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
