Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic individual who is motivational, passionate, and fun! We want you to lead our Housekeeping and Laundry Team to ensure the effortless and seamless movement of guests within our rooms and to provide exceptional levels of cleanliness throughout our guests' stay.
The Director of Housekeeping will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping and laundry teams. The DOH will ensure that high levels of cleanliness standards are being applied consistently and that all hotel and department policies and procedures are followed and adhered to.
Your role:
- Assign personnel to established work areas or project duties.
- Plan and coordinate project work to ensure that proper frequencies are maintained.
- Ensure that staff receive proper orientation, initial training, and ongoing education.
- Ensure duty lists are always revised and current. Review duty lists with regular, and relief associates periodically.
- Ensure that proper supply control guidelines are followed, and staff are trained in the use of all chemicals.
- Proactive approach to identifying and correcting facility quality assurance concerns. Timely follow-up is required.
- Lead departmental staff meetings on a scheduled basis. Attend ongoing staff development and training courses as offered by company and facility.
- Provide and monitor individual guidance and motivation to associates to enable each one to perform to his/her fullest potential.
- Monitor associates' attendance and take proactive action when patterns of absenteeism are observed.
- Keep records and appropriate logbooks current and maintain all necessary documentation. Monitor service binders in assigned areas daily taking appropriate action to client concerns/comments.
- Participate in facility Quality Assurance Program as required. Ensure high quality cleaning is maintained in areas of assignment. Perform Quality Assurance Inspections as assigned.
- Assign equipment to staff and monitor daily equipment use, cleaning and maintenance. Ensure that all equipment is always clean and professional in appearance.
- Prepare associate disciplinary and variance reports and conduct follow-up investigation as needed, reporting findings to AGM. Prepare disciplinary action notices and conduct follow-up as required. Conduct disciplinary meetings with associates with guidance from AGM.
- Respond to concerns and requests with a sense of urgency and take necessary corrective action including timely follow-up.
- Conducts associate performance evaluations with guidance and approval from AGM.
- Participate in hotel safety meetings and always maintain a safe work environment. Report all unsafe equipment and acts to appropriate assistant director.
- Assure that the security of the facility is always maintained.
- Manage special requests or projects and perform other duties as assigned.
- Assist housekeepers on an as needed basis.
- Ensure housekeeping office, storage and closets are clean, organized, well maintained and professional in appearance always.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, along with 5 years of Housekeeping Manager and supervisor experience, required with a high customer/client contact required.
- Knowledge and understanding of in-house laundry operations is required.
- Bilingual is required with an emphasis on Spanish.
Please be advised, we are a large full-service hotel and as such, this position requires extended periods on your feet with frequent long walks around the internal and external areas of the hotel along with considerable physical activity on a continuous basis, up to and including entire shifts.
