KaylaTek has an exciting opportunity supporting the AFNCR IT contract at Joint Base Andrews, MD. The Data Center Engineer will support the 844th Communications Group at Joint Base Andrews (JBA). This role includes supporting the Air Force District of Washington (AFDW) and Headquarters Air Force (HAF) customers on both NIPRNet and SIPRNet domains for the development of the Consolidated Communications Center (CCC) building. The preferred candidate will have excellent communications skills, a strong customer service orientation and experience serving as an advisor to Chief Architect and other Government/ Contractor staff and managers.

Location: Joint Base Andrews (JBA), Maryland - 100% on site

Desired Certifications: Data Center Management Certification

Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance to start (no interims)

Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to identify beddown requirements for a brand new facility
  • Lead and assist with all design aspects of the CCC building data center support systems, to include AC/DC power, UPS, HVAC, carrier infrastructures, internal/external cable plant, and overall data center layout
  • Produce architectural artifacts to include system design diagrams, recommendation justifications, and technical specifications.
  • Communicate conceptual designs and create/maintain project documentation before, during, and after construction
  • Create and review civil/structural/architectural design RFPs.
  • Conduct site assessments, internal design meetings, construction reviews.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define the processes and standards that govern data center activities
  • Coordinate and control access and logistic support
  • Follow Data centers procedures and processes
  • Manage and coordinate the installation and maintenance of date center equipment
  • Ensure compliance with data center security protocols

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years in Civil Engineering ( a plus) or the equivalent relevant experience in data center or mission critical facilities design.
  • Experience managing data centers or DoD command centers.
  • Candidate with an IT background managing a DOD data center or command center, who in addition has also worked the design, fit out and management of a DoD data center or command center and worked with Air Force CE, NAVFAC, construction contractors, IT contractors, etc.
  • Active Secret Clearance to start (no interims)
  • Experience managing hardware configuration baselines
  • Experience with Data Center Strategy, Planning, and Roadmap maintenance
  • Knowledge of power infrastructure layout from generation to rack level, redundancy levels and techniques, rack standards, properties and selection criteria, and power rail/strip options, cold aisle/hot aisle containment, and standards for fire suppression, security and safety
  • Proficiency in building codes, regulations, and standards
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships, partnerships and external networks
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision and work effectively in a collaborative team environment while keeping the team informed.
  • Excellent customer facing skills.
  • Excellent researching, decision-making and organizational skills are required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Visio or AutoCAD
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection and other guidelines where appropriate.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience or familiarity with DCIM management software such as NLYTE
  • Data Center Management Certification a plus
