John Morrissey Accountants, Inc. (JMA), an accounting firm with offices in Rockford and Belvidere Illinois, is seeking a high-quality individual to join our team. Accountants with business and individual tax experience who are looking for a great work environment should apply.

The candidate must continuously prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with a high level of focus on quality, accuracy, and confidentiality.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• 5 to 7 years accounting experience in a professional environment
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent related experience
• Public accounting experience a plus
• CPA or Enrolled Agent is a plus
• Experience meeting with clients and preparing individual and business tax returns a plus
• Provide exceptional client service using strong communication, meeting deadlines and listening and responding to client needs in a timely fashion
• Strong organizational and computer skills
• Clear communication and team work skills
• Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving ability
• Must be able to work independently and, maintain productivity and accuracy
• Experience with MS Office (Word & Excel at a minimum)
• Experience with accounting and tax software; Ultra Tax, QuickBooks and Creative Solutions Accounting/ACS a plus

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Examine accounting records; prepare accounting and bookkeeping reports
• Prepare financial statements
• Statement and account reconciliations
• Sales and Use Tax calculations and compliance
• Billings and accounts receivable management
• Accounts payable
• Journal entries and adjusting journal entries
• Maintain fixed assets, reconcile additions and disposals, post depreciation expense entries
• Quarterly and year end payroll and independent contractor reporting
